Oct 13, 2024

When we shared the personal story behind the Selora Grab Bar, we didn’t expect it to go viral. But with 300,000 views and climbing, it’s clear that Selora isn’t just a grab bar—it’s a symbol of dignity and design for people facing the challenges of aging or living with disabilities.

A Story That Resonates: The First Viral Grab Bar

Something extraordinary has happened—our Selora Grab Bar has become the first-ever viral grab bar. Just days ago, we shared the personal story behind its design, and it’s struck a deep chord with people across the world. The post has already reached 300,000 views and counting, with an outpouring of support and personal stories that have deeply touched us.

This moment means so much to us at Capella Design - a small team with a big mission. It's validation that what we're doing matters. And it’s a powerful reminder of the shared experiences and challenges so many of us face.

The story behind Selora began with Patrick, one of our co-founders, whose father was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. After years of creating a beautifully designed home, his parents struggled to find products that offered his father the dignity he deserved without compromising the style they had curated over decades in their home.

This personal experience inspired Patrick to reimagine what accessible design could look like—elegant, functional, and a seamless part of their home’s aesthetic. But what we’ve learned from this viral moment is that this isn’t just our story—it’s everyone’s story. Hundreds of thousands of people have lived through the same challenge—finding ways to balance the need for functional support while maintaining the beauty and dignity of their home.

Here’s why we think Selora has struck such a powerful chord:

This Isn’t Just Our Story—It’s a Shared Experience

The overwhelming response we’ve received shows that this story resonates with many people. Families everywhere are navigating the same tension between needing support and wanting their home to remain a place of beauty and pride. Selora has become a symbol of how accessible products can be part of that solution.

Proof That Design and Functionality Can Coexist

Selora’s viral success validates our mission: accessible products don’t need to be clinical or stigmatizing. The Selora Grab Bar was designed to blend seamlessly into any home, proving that support can exist without sacrificing style. The response has shown us that people are ready for accessible products that integrate into their lives with dignity.

Our Mission is Bigger Than Us

We’ve always believed that Capella Design’s mission is larger than any one person’s story. The outpouring of stories we’ve received from people who have faced similar challenges—balancing accessibility with aesthetics—proves that this movement is bigger than us. It’s clear that people everywhere are craving products that offer both function and beauty.

As the first viral grab bar, Selora has shown us that accessibility isn’t just about function—it’s about preserving the dignity, style, and comfort of your home.

Thank you to everyone who has shared their story and supported us.

This is just the beginning.

  • Incorporating premade food, whether that means ordering out or store bought sides and desserts
